The Brief
A family gym in The Meadows that the whole household would use. The room is about 6 x 5 metres with garden light, and the brief was bright, airy and open, with plenty of space between machines rather than as much kit as would fit. Equipment had to be reasonably priced but durable enough for daily family use, and the clients had a mural planned for one wall.
What We Did
We planned the layout around the light and the garden view, with a treadmill and an indoor rower for cardio and a multi gym for strength, spaced so nobody is training on top of anyone else. The equipment was chosen from the value end of the durable range: built to last, without paying for commercial branding the family did not need. Gym flooring went down across the training area and the mural wall was left clear as the feature.

The Result
A gym the family used from the day it went in, because it feels like a nice room to be in rather than a storage space for machines. Proof that a good home gym is about the layout and the light as much as the budget.
