Nobody in this market publishes prices. Ask for a wellness room quote in Dubai and you will get a meeting, a brochure and a number that arrives three weeks later with no explanation attached.
We think that is backwards. If you are considering spending serious money on a recovery space in your home, you deserve to know where every dirham goes before you ever pick up the phone. So here is an honest breakdown of a real mid-tier project: a AED 250,000 wellness room in a Dubai villa.
The room this buys
Picture a converted bedroom or garage bay, roughly 20 to 30 square metres. Inside it: a two-person infrared sauna, a chilled and filtered ice bath, a full-body red light setup, a zero-gravity recovery lounger, acoustic treatment, non-toxic finishes, purified air and lighting designed for winding down. Fully installed, commissioned and maintained.
Where the money goes
Infrared sauna: AED 45,000 to 70,000. The spread is quality. Commercial-grade heaters, proper timber and correct ventilation cost more than the flat-pack units you see online, and the difference shows up in year three, not day one. Undersized electrics and poor venting are the two most common faults we fix in rooms other people built.
Ice bath and chiller: AED 30,000 to 55,000. The tub is the cheap part. The chiller, filtration and ozone or UV sanitation are what make cold water something you actually get into every day. A plunge without proper filtration becomes a pond within weeks, which is why so many cheap setups end up abandoned on the terrace.
Red light: AED 15,000 to 40,000. Panels at the lower end, a full-body bed at the top. What you are paying for is measured irradiance at the right wavelengths, typically 660 and 850 nanometres, and proper mounting at the correct distance, not a panel propped against a wall.
Zero-gravity recovery lounger: AED 25,000 to 45,000. The newest category in the room. Weightless positioning combined with heat and PEMF. This is the piece guests ask about first.
The room itself: AED 40,000 to 70,000. This is the part almost everyone underestimates. Recovery flooring with drainage. Acoustic door seals and wall treatment so the room is actually quiet. Low-VOC mineral paint. Air purification. Dehumidification, because a room with hot water and cold water in it needs moisture handled properly. Skip this layer and you have expensive equipment in an ordinary room that slowly damages itself.
Design, installation and commissioning: the remainder. Every trade coordinated, every system tested, one point of contact, and a walkthrough where you learn the room. This is also what you are buying: nobody in your household ever manages a contractor.
Where people overspend and underspend
Overspend: chasing the biggest sauna that fits. A correctly sized sauna heats faster, runs cheaper and gets used more. Underspend: filtration, acoustics and ventilation. The invisible things are the difference between a room you use daily for a decade and a room you quietly stop entering after six months.
Can you do it for less?
Yes. Our Recover tier starts around AED 75,000 for an existing room fitted with sauna, ice bath, red light and proper flooring, no construction required. And above the AED 250,000 level sits the full architectural build, from around AED 400,000, with complete acoustic isolation and low-EMF electrical design. The right tier depends on your room, your household and how deep you want to go.
The honest first step
Before any number means anything, the room has to be assessed. Ventilation, drainage, power and sound decide everything. We run a design consultation at your home for AED 1,500, credited in full against any project, where we assess the space and give you a fixed, itemised price. No three-week mystery quote.
