The Brief
The client had a spare room in a large rented villa in Al Ain, roughly 10 x 14 metres, and wanted what he called a commercial gym at home: equipment that felt like the club he was used to, so he could keep to five sessions a week without driving to one. Sensible budget, no compromise on feel.
What We Did
The room was far bigger than the gym needed to be, so instead of flooring 140 square metres we built the gym at one end and laid heavy duty flooring only under the training area, which put the money into equipment. A Smith machine with a commercial feel is the main station, a dual adjustable pulley covers the cable work that gives a home gym its variety, and a premium round dumbbell set replaces the hex dumbbells most home gyms settle for. Semi commercial cardio, an adjustable bench and free weights complete it.

The Result
